> ## Agent Instructions
> Call them jobs, not postings, listings, or roles.
> To act for an employer, connect to the MCP server at https://mcp.hotfix.jobs/hiring and sign in with a Hotfix account. API keys are for HTTP scripts, not MCP.
> Only describe the routes, tools, and numbers these docs publish. If something isn't documented, say so instead of guessing.
> Webhooks are managed in the app under Settings > Connections > Webhooks. An API key or MCP client can't create or change them.
> Hotfix is the applicant tracking system. Applications land on the job in Hotfix and aren't sent to another ATS.
> Creating a draft, offer, or booking link sends nothing. A person sends the email from Hotfix.

# Install Hotfix for Mac

> What you need, how to download Hotfix for Mac, and signing in with your Hotfix account and your Claude or ChatGPT plan.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Not on a Mac? Hire with Hotfix [in Claude or
> ChatGPT](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/ways/claude-and-chatgpt.md) or [on the web](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/ways/web.md).

## What you need

* A Mac with Apple silicon, on macOS 13 or later.
* A Claude or ChatGPT plan of your own. Hotfix runs your agent on it, and the usage counts against that plan, not against Hotfix.
* A company on Hotfix and a seat on its team. The app doesn't create a company, so start on the web: [create your company](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/start/set-up.md#create-your-company) with **Start free**, or join from a teammate's invite.

## Set up Claude or ChatGPT

Hotfix doesn't come with an AI of its own. It runs the tools Anthropic and OpenAI publish, signed in with your account. Set up at least one.

Open Hotfix, go to **Settings** > **AI**, and click **Install** next to Claude or ChatGPT. Hotfix runs the maker's own installer (Anthropic's for Claude Code, OpenAI's for Codex), then opens the sign-in in your browser. You don't need Terminal.

If you'd rather install them yourself, paste one of these in **Terminal** (in Applications > Utilities):

```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash
```

```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSL https://chatgpt.com/codex/install.sh | sh
```

Then click **Sign in** in **Settings** > **AI**, or **Check again** if Hotfix still says one isn't set up. You can also sign in from Terminal with `claude auth login` or `codex login`.

You can set up both and pick one per conversation. Hotfix never asks for your Claude or ChatGPT password and never sees it. See [Your Claude or ChatGPT](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/app/your-ai.md).

## Download and sign in

**1. Download**

Open [hotfix.jobs/download](https://hotfix.jobs/download) on your Mac and
click **Download for Mac**. Open the file and drag Hotfix to Applications.

**2. Sign in to Hotfix**

Open Hotfix and click **Continue in your browser**. Your browser opens
Hotfix's sign-in.
Pick your company and allow **Read and write**, then come back to the app.

**3. Check your plans**

Open **Settings** > **AI**. Claude and ChatGPT each say whether they're
signed in, with how much of your plan is used.

## Who gets in

After you sign in, the app sends you where the web would:

* **No company yet, or no plan:** finish setup on the web first. See [Set up your company](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/start/set-up.md).
* **An Interviewer:** your interviews are on the web. See [For interviewers](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/ways/interviewers.md).
* **A plan that ended:** an Owner picks a plan under **Settings** > **Billing** on the web.

Each screen has the web page one click away, **Check again**, and **Sign out**.

## Updates

Hotfix checks for a new version every few hours, downloads it in the background, and installs it the next time you quit. **What's new** opens after an update. See the [changelog](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/changelog.md).

## Signing out

Your account menu has **Sign out**. It ends the app's access to Hotfix at once. Your conversations stay on your Mac.
