> ## Agent Instructions
> Call them jobs, not postings, listings, or roles.
> To act for an employer, connect to the MCP server at https://mcp.hotfix.jobs/hiring and sign in with a Hotfix account. API keys are for HTTP scripts, not MCP.
> Only describe the routes, tools, and numbers these docs publish. If something isn't documented, say so instead of guessing.
> Webhooks are managed in the app under Settings > API > Webhooks. An API key or MCP client can't create or change them.
> Hotfix is the applicant tracking system. Applications land in Applicants in Hotfix and aren't sent to another ATS.
> Creating a draft, offer, or booking link sends nothing. A person sends the email from Hotfix.

# Jobs MCP

> Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or another assistant to search open tech jobs on Hotfix and keep your watchlist. Sign in with your Hotfix account.

The jobs MCP lets a job seeker's own assistant search Hotfix and keep their watchlist. It is a different server from the [hiring MCP](/hiring-mcp), which is for companies hiring on Hotfix. It's free.

```
https://mcp.hotfix.jobs/jobs
```

Transport is Streamable HTTP with OAuth. Add the URL with no header. The first time, the assistant opens a browser: sign in with your Hotfix account, then choose an access level. There is no company to pick.

* **Read and write** searches jobs, reads your watchlist, and adds or removes jobs on it.
* **Read only** searches jobs and reads your watchlist without changing it.

The sign-in page says where the app is from by what Hotfix checked, like `claude.ai`, never by the name the app gives itself. An app running on your own computer, such as Claude Code, says so. Allow it only if you just started connecting it.

## Connect Claude

On claude.ai or in Claude Desktop, open **Settings** > **Connectors**, add a custom connector with the URL above, and click **Connect**. In Claude Code, run:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http hotfix-jobs https://mcp.hotfix.jobs/jobs
```

## Connect another assistant

Add Hotfix as a remote MCP server.

* Transport: Streamable HTTP
* URL: `https://mcp.hotfix.jobs/jobs`
* Auth: OAuth. Do not set an `Authorization` header.

The assistant finds the sign-in server from the `401` response. It can use a client ID metadata document or register itself.

## Tools

| Tool | Access | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| `search_jobs` | Read | Open jobs by keyword, title, location or country, work type, department and team, seniority, skills, company, salary, and date posted |
| `get_job` | Read | A job's full posting: the description, the salary as stated, whether it's open today, and where to apply |
| `list_companies` | Read | Companies on Hotfix |
| `get_company` | Read | One company: what it does, size, funding, headquarters, tech stack, benefits, and open jobs |
| `list_watchlist` | Read | The jobs you saved, as **Watching**, **Applied**, and **Closed**, like your Watchlist on hotfix.jobs |
| `watch_job` | Read and write | Saves an open job to your watchlist |
| `unwatch_job` | Read and write | Removes a job from your watchlist |

Salaries are in the currency the posting stated. A job posted on Hotfix also lists its requirements. The assistant never applies for you: you apply on the company's site or on Hotfix.

## Disconnect

On hotfix.jobs, open **Account** > **Settings** > **Connected apps** and click **Disconnect**. The app loses access on its next call. To use it again, connect and sign in again.

A connection that was disconnected or has expired gets a `401`; sign in again. One without jobs access gets a `403` with `insufficient_scope`. Too many calls get a `429`; wait a moment and try again.
