> ## Agent Instructions
> Call them jobs, not postings, listings, or roles.
> To act for an employer, connect to the MCP server at https://mcp.hotfix.jobs/hiring and sign in with a Hotfix account. API keys are for HTTP scripts, not MCP.
> Only describe the routes, tools, and numbers these docs publish. If something isn't documented, say so instead of guessing.
> Webhooks are managed in the app under Settings > Connections > Webhooks. An API key or MCP client can't create or change them.
> Hotfix is the applicant tracking system. Applications land on the job in Hotfix and aren't sent to another ATS.
> Creating a draft, offer, or booking link sends nothing. A person sends the email from Hotfix.

# Manual, Auto, and Plan

> The mode under the message box says what your agent may change on its own. Anything that sends always asks.

Pick the mode per conversation.

| Mode | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Manual** | Each change waits for you to allow it. |
| **Auto** | Changes go through. Anything that sends still asks. |
| **Plan** | Nothing changes. Your agent looks into it and proposes a plan for you to approve. |

In every mode, reads run without asking, and nothing reaches a candidate until a person presses **Send**.

## Manual

Before a change, like saving a review, drafting an invite, or publishing a job, your agent stops and asks above the message box.

![Manual mode: Draft an invite for Priya Shah? Platform Engineer, phone screen, 30 min, with Don't allow and Allow](https://mintcdn.com/hotfix/0W4_fbSOZCG15YKb/images/app/manual.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=0W4_fbSOZCG15YKb\&q=85\&s=c430fc9431a229168a51efaa3551b151)

* **Allow** lets this one change through.
* **Don't allow** stops it, and your agent says what it would have done.
* The menu beside **Allow** has **Allow all**, for every change waiting now, and **Allow for this conversation**, for changes like this one until the conversation ends.

## Auto

Changes go through as your agent makes them. It still asks before anything that sends or moves money, like sending, posting, publishing, or paying, every time.

## Plan

In Plan, your agent can only read. It looks into what you asked and proposes a plan as a card.

![A plan to post a Senior Frontend Engineer: six steps from the draft to leaving it for you to publish, with Go ahead](https://mintcdn.com/hotfix/0W4_fbSOZCG15YKb/images/app/plan.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=0W4_fbSOZCG15YKb\&q=85\&s=6ae3668136d617eb2ede09ecbe250583)

* Reply to change the plan. The card shows it as it is now, and each change leaves a line saying what changed.
* **Go ahead** returns to the mode you had before Plan and carries the plan out.
* **Open** shows the plan in the panel.

## What always asks

* Hotfix's **Send** is yours alone. Your agent can't press it in any mode.
* Anything that sends or moves money through one of your own connectors, like sending a message or making a purchase.
* A tool that runs code.
* Opening a web page your agent's searches didn't find.

A connector or tool you switched off is never used. See [Connections](https://docs.hotfix.jobs/app/connections.md).
